Documenting the Death of Our Republic
How Trumpism & Billionaires Are Degrading Our Democracy One Fascist Policy at a Time
Marco Rubio has just announced that the Trump regime will deny visas to any foreign nationals who criticize the state Israel. Elon Musk’s so-called “DOGE” policy cuts can now be tied to at least 300,000 deaths, and counting. The Supreme Court just criminalized 500,000 documented immigrants, because Trump asked them to. And MAGA Senator Joni Ernst mocked her constituents who shared their fear of dying due to the new GOP budget bill, then told them to accept Jesus.
It is imperative we recognize the right wing fascism consuming our government, and continue to work to counter its destructive impact. Let’s Address This.

People Have Rights, States Don’t
Marco Rubio has announced that the Trump regime will deny visas to any foreign nationals who criticize Israel—claiming its to “combat antisemitism.” I wonder when Rubio will demand accountability for Trump? Or has Rubio forgotten Trump’s long and sordid history of antisemitism himself? This is the man who said there were "very fine people on both sides" after neo-Nazis marched through Charlottesville chanting, "Jews will not replace us." This is the man who dined with Holocaust deniers. This is the man who has repeatedly trafficked in antisemitic tropes and conspiracies. So for his regime to now claim the mantle of defending Jewish people against antisemitism is not just hypocritical, it is grotesque.
But there’s an even deeper issue at hand here. Yes, hate against Jewish people for being Jewish is despicable and must be condemned with full force. Because people have rights. States, meanwhile, do not. Therefore, criticizing the State of Israel for injustices committed by the State of Israel is not antisemitism—it is an act of democratic accountability. It is what people committed to justice do. And, most importantly, it is what the First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects.
Marco Rubio is ripping up the Constitution in real-time to defend a foreign State that is committing genocide. Again, States do not have rights. People have rights. Human rights exist to protect people, not States—and especially not States that are committing genocide. The Trump regime is eviscerating free speech, and weaponizing immigration law to silence criticism of a foreign government, all under the absurd pretense of fighting antisemitism. This isn’t democracy. This is dictatorship. This is fascism.
And as a human rights lawyer, I will not hesitate to call it exactly what it is.
Right, center, or left—if you value free speech, the Constitution, and a functioning Republic, you must reject this policy with every fiber of your being. Because if they can ban critics of Israel today, they can ban critics of the U.S. government tomorrow.
Death and Devastation from DOGE
And speaking of criticizing the U.S. Government, remember when Elon Musk promised to “cut $2 trillion from the federal budget” by “running the government like a business?" As his “special” government job now concludes, he leaves behind a trail of carnage and devastation. According to new scholarship, Musk’s approach to governance has already resulted in the deaths of 300,000 people—most of them children—by gutting U.S. humanitarian aid.
Brooke Nichols, an associate professor of global health at Boston University, estimates that Musk’s budget cuts have already caused 300,000 deaths, and will likely cause significantly more by the end of the year. That is what Elon Musk’s foray into politics has accomplished: mass death through manufactured austerity.
The fact remains that billionaires don’t know how to govern. They know how to exploit. They know how to avoid taxes. They know how to consolidate power. And until we tax them out of existence, they will continue to use their wealth to kill the most vulnerable among us. Stop trusting billionaires. Start taxing them.
Criminalizing Immigrants to Advance White Supremacy
Then there’s the Trump regime’s latest victory at the Supreme Court: a ruling that just rendered 500,000 previously documented immigrants undocumented overnight.
Politico reports that the Trump regime can now cancel a Biden-era humanitarian program that allowed immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to live and work legally in the United States. And leading this charge is none other than Marco Rubio—the son of Cuban immigrants himself.
Rubio, who once said that if he had to break immigration laws to care for his family, he would, is now criminalizing immigrants who followed the law to the letter. They did things the "right way," and still they are being made criminals. This is cruelty for cruelty’s sake. It’s yet another reminder that whenever MAGA cultists claim they only oppose "illegal" immigration and not "legal" immigration, they are lying. Their opposition has never been about the law. It has always been about race. It has always been about upholding white supremacy. MAGA is not a political ideology—it is a white supremacist cult. And it is worth noting the hijacking of Christianity to make their cruel policies seem divinely sanctioned.
Joni Ernst to Constituents: Stop Whining About Us Killing You
Iowa MAGA Senator Joni Ernst is a reminder of why we need separation of religion and state, and why we need term limits (Ernst is up for re-election in 2026 for those wondering). Rather than delve into her unhinged and cruel remarks to a constituent, here’s my video rebuttal to her absurdities found here.
Conclusion
This is not just about policy disagreements. This is about the comprehensive degradation of our democracy, our Constitution, and our most basic shared values. From banning speech, to criminalizing humanitarian aid, to turning legal immigrants into undocumented targets, to cruelly mocking working people genuinely concerned about whether they can feed their children—we are watching Trumpism transform the United States into an authoritarian state before our eyes.
